malachite
Malachite
Malachite is a well known stone that is easy to recognize by its banding of alternating shades of light and dark green. Did you know that Malachite was used as a mineral pigment in green paints from antiquity until c. 1800? The pigment is moderately lightfast, sensitive to acids, and varying in color. This natural form of green pigment has been since replaced by synthetic greens but the stone continues to entrance people.

I tried to replicate a version of Malachite on this tweed base. The tweed enhances the black speckles and the greens are nicely balanced with light and dark shades.

Wanderer
85% Superwash Merino, 15% Donegal Nep
Fingering weight
2ply yarn
438 yds/100g
Hand wash recommended

Please note if a color is listed as a 'backorder' option, it will be dyed to order and may take up to a week to ship.

Please note that color variations may occur from skein to skein as a result of hand dyeing.
