Sylvan Lake

Description

Sylvan Lake is a gorgeous man made lake deep in the heart of Custer State Park, not too far from Mount Rushmore, in South Dakota. It was created in 1881 when Theodore Reder built a dam across Sunday Gulch. It features a magnificent rock formation near one end of the lake. If you’re lucky enough to be there at sunset, it’s almost as if you’ve stepped into heaven. This photo is graciously used with permission. This variegated colorway was dyed on a darker yarn base which lends to deeper, richer tones. Starting with a silvery gray, the colorway then moves into a periwinkle blue, a regal purple and finishes with a pinkish peach tone. It’s almost a romantic colorway, don’t you think?

70% Superwash Merino wool, 20% Yak,
10% Nylon
Fingering weight

Machine wash cool / tumble dry low (Hand wash is recommended for the longevity of the finished item)

Please note that color variations may occur from skein to skein as a result of hand dyeing. I have matched the colors in the photo as close as real life as possible however some differences may be noticed from monitor to monitor. Please also order as many skeins as you need for your project as color variation may happen one dye lot to the next.
