Dilapidated Americana

Description

In the center of the small town of Shoshone, Idaho rests this lonely relic from the past; a past where the railroad was the preferred method of traveling. The depot was built in 1928 and saw its heyday from 1937 to 1965 with the Union Pacific Railway. It became the main railroad station for the Magic Valley in south central Idaho, with this depot as its gem. Despite the still active railway that runs through the town, the last passenger train ran through Shoshone in 1997, leaving this station locked and boarded up.

As soon I saw this beautiful building, it spoke to me and I instantly saw a yarn color. The rich red-orange-brown of the bricks against the plaster gray of the walls with the distressed teal shutters begged to be transformed into a variegated yarn color. This colorway captures that red-orange before flowing into gray and teal. There are so many possibilities for this colorway.

Please also order as many skeins as you need for your project as color variation may happen one dye lot to the next.
