Description
Sun Dog Sky features the same brilliant blue color seen in the north on the freezing cold days that brings sun dogs to the sky. Sun dogs are a circular halo around the sun, most often seen as two bright points on either side; but in the twilight hours when the sun is closer to the horizon a full arc can be seen. On rare occasions, such as this photo, you can see the full halo in the middle of the day. This phenomenon is caused by light refracting on ice crystals in the air. Fun info: it apparently got its name from Greek mythology. It was believed the god Zeus walked his dogs across the sky and that the bright “false suns” in the sky on either side of the sun’s disk were the dogs.
This colorway features that brilliant blue sky color that can be seen when sun dogs are present.
