Description
Are you familiar with Paul Bunyan and his faithful blue ox Babe? He is a giant lumberjack in American folklore. The earliest reference of Paul and Babe dates back to 1904, in the heyday of lumberjack camps. Stories of him were often told around the fires at the end of the day. The folklore stories became so loved that Paul and Babe were soon seen in various product advertisements across the country. He is best well known in Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and parts of the Dakotas; however, statues of him and Babe can be found all over the United States. The photo that inspired these colors is of the statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe at the Bemidji Visitor Center in downtown Bemidji, Minnesota.
This colorway set features a deep red skein streaked with black to resemble Paul’s shirt and a brilliant turquoise blue with a few black streaks to resemble Babe. The two skeins are sold as a set, however you may choose to use the colors together in a project, or separately in different projects. Can you imagine a slipped stitch shawl or colorwork with these two colors?
Worn Suitcase sport:
80% Superwash Merino / 20% Nylon
Sport Weight
328 yards per skein / 100 grams (Total yardage for the set is 656)
Machine wash gentle on cool (Hand washing is highly recommended to preserve the life of the finished item)
You will receive one skein of red and one skein of blue with this set. The colors are not sold separately.
Please note that color variations may occur from skein to skein as a result of hand dyeing. I have matched the colors in the photo as close as real life as possible however some differences may be noticed from monitor to monitor. Please also order as many skeins as you need for your project as color variation may happen one dye lot to the next.
